I remember (not that it’s been so long, my memory just doesnt go beyond a year) my college wardrobe was packed with tank tops, blouses, cardigans, plaid shirts, blazers, and jeans. I was more of well (or nerdy) dressed college girl than an easy-going one (which I really was) who wore sweatpants and leggings to class. Not that, I forced myself to dress such way but I actually love dressing up appropriate to the surrounding, whether it means to dressing up or down. I approve of every style when it has a touch of class to it. Moreover, It’s one of the tricks, I play to help me blend into the environment seamlessly and not to mention dressing neat is one of the primary ways to make an impression.
As my college wardrobe was complete with all comfort and well-tailored pieces. I really wish, I knew how versatile shirt dresses are then, I definitely would have been hooked to them as I am today. It’s pretty obvious (you would know, if you have seen mine posts- this, this and this) that, they are my favorite kind of dresses to wear all year.
Not only they are classy but easy to pair. You can easily layer them with a blazer or sweater in winter or with a cardigan or denim jacket in spring and fall or with a belt in summer. This simply retro shirt dress looks as beautiful in pink as in pictures. It is made of pure cotton, just so soft and lightweight that you can live in it 24/7 and it is very wallet friendly, only $29. The draw string waist belt is the highlight of this dress as it gives a fine cinched waist look otherwise the dress is very loose fitted.
For this look, I went all vintage by going with the vibe of the dress. I added a brown leather belt from fossil and oxfords. Seriously, I try my best to match oxfords to all my outfits, that’s how obsessed I am with them. As it’s a college inspired look, I added a tan backpack from sole society, you can easily wear this look outside with a handbag or a cross body.
All simply retro pieces are well-tailored with soft cotton and they look very high end but are reasonably priced. I love a lot of thier pieces but this pleated skirt ($19), White shirt ($24), bow tie blouse ($15) and this trench dress (you can double it as trench coat) are my favorites.
