I will be honest I’ve never heard of corduroy until I came to United States. I don’t recall if I ever owned any or what I called them, may be velvet or “kind of Velvet thingy”. No matter what I would have certainly stayed away from it as I did with velvet all my life, thinking they are not for curvy girls (like myself). If you think the same way, then this post is certainly for you to prove that corduroy are definitely a Yes for curvy girls.
Simple tip when selecting a corduroy bottom for curvy body type is to avoid straight cut, low waist pants and fitted skirts
Cord material is heavy and tend to give a fitted look on the body due to which you might look little chubby. So the point here to avoid fitted style on the areas you tend to carry more weight.
Few things to note before making buying a corduroy bottom-
- If you carry more weight on hips (pear shape) like me, opt for flare and mid length skirts.
- If you carry more weight over the tummy or waist line (apple shape), avoid low waist pants as they will accentuate your belly and make it look bigger. Ideal is to go for mid waist like I did here, so it’s not too snug and gives you a balanced look.
- Boot cut and flare jeans also look good on curvy body type (esp pear shape) as they create a long line from hip to toe. While buying make sure they fit snug around the thighs.
This skirt is amazing for curvy shape ladies as it is light weight- doesn’t carry that cord extra weight plus it’s not fitted at all. The skirt is on sale and comes in camel and navy colors as well. The snake print booties from free people are my absolute favorite purchase of the season. I love the mid calf height and the color is neutral and goes good with all warms colors.
