When temperatures dip to freezing, you’ll need to take a few extra precautions to keep your baby warm, dry, and comfortable throughout the winter. Luckily, the right baby clothes and gear can make that task a lot easier. To help you prepare for the cold days ahead, here is a complete guide on Baby boy winter clothes and layering tips you’ll need to keep the baby happy and safe this season.
How to Dress and Layer a Baby Boy for Cold Weather
When outfitting little ones for cold, wind, and snow, there are 3 main layers to consider – the base layer, insulating layer, and waterproof layer.
1. Base Layer
The base layer is the one that sits next to your baby’s skin. It should be soft and breathable. Depending on the weather, the base layer change from a cotton/bamboo onesie to a wool sweater. Some of our favorites are these thermal onesies, long sleeve bodysuits, Footie sleeper, ribbed legging, sweatpants
2. Insulating layer
Fleece, wool, and down are all great insulators – adding warmth without the bulk so your baby can still move around easily! Many kid’s jackets include both an insulating layer and a waterproof layer. But it’s great to have a separate insulating layer as an additional jacket for transitional weather or to wear it at home when it’s cold. Some of our favorites are a cardigan, sweatshirt and pant set, Sherpa overall, a fleece sleeper, sweater leggings
3. Waterproof Layer
Snowsuit or down jackets are waterproof. They usually are quite insulated as well for extra warmth, but if they don’t you can add an insulated layer from above. Some of our favorites are snowsuit, puffer jacket
