You guys know I never miss a chance to wear jackets. In fact, they are my outfit completers. I just love layering and season transition is my favorite time to mix clothes from different seasons together.
Though it looks like we are going to skip Spring and jump straight into Summer, there are still plenty of chilly and rainy days in between every week when you need to wear lightweight jackets or coats.
Today I am rounding up my must-have Spring & Summer Lightweight Jackets that are both practical and stylish. I also shared outfits on how I styled them in everyday life.
MY FAVORITE SPRING & SUMMER LIGHTWEIGHT JACKETS
1. Trench Coats
Trench coats are uber chic and timeless. Both short and long version looks great with many outfits. I have been on a hunt for a light camel color and well-structured trench for some time and my search ended with this Brooks Brothers trench coat. It’s worth every penny. The light color is very versatile (goes well with pretty much any outfit) and it comes with an additional removable layer inside for extra warmth for colder days.
Trench coats look very good with jeans, work pants, midi dresses, and a-line and pleated skirts. Shorter trench coats look younger and more sporty while longer trenches have a more a classic look.

This lightweight breezy gingham trench is my latest obsession. I love the longer length, looks relaxed and fashionable. Gingham print is a staple for spring and a great basic without being boring (did you see all the fun colors they are coming in lately?). The trench is currently on sale for $41.
Favorite Brands to shop Trench coats- Brooks brothers, Banan Republic, Nordstrom, J.Crew, Ralph Lauren Polo and Burberry (high end)
2. Denim Jacket
Denim Jackets are incredibly versatile. They are chic, casual, classic and an ultimate cool-girl essential. You can never go wrong with pairing a perfectly fitted denim jacket with light wash jeans or a floral dress.
In the first outfit below, the polished satin dress with the denim jacket created a contrast and interesting casual chic outfit. Denim jackets are great for dressing down fancy and formal dresses.
The jacket below with bell sleeves is no humidity approved way to wear denim in Summer. The loosely fitted sleeves are the comfiest detailing plus, they give this jacket a touch of femininity. It’s currently on 40% off + 10% off (if you have a gap or Banana card) sale making it less than $50.
Favorite Brands to shop Denim Jackets- Hands down Madewell, Old Navy, TopShop
3. Utility jacket
Utility jackets are the easiest layering piece as they tend to go with literally anything. You can style them in a multitude of different ways, by adding another layer to a basic ensemble (see look#1) or by wearing it over a classic striped tee (look#2) for a casual look (look#2) or giving a feminine dress an unexpected forward twist (look#3).
The one I am wearing is by Levis. It’s my most worn jacket in my closet. I love the cool military patches on the sleeves.

Kimono is the ultimate transitional piece from Spring to Summer or summer to fall. They come in handy when you don’t want to sacrifice your sleeves and also stay cool.
kimonos come in varying lengths, colors, and patterns. Longer version looks great with high-waisted skinny jeans, matching culottes or maxi/mini dress, and, a shorter cut looks great with skinny jeans and will accentuate your waist when worn with a skirt and a cinched waist belt.
